New Standards in Product Fineness

 

The Spiral Type Jetmill of PMT-Jetmill is specialized in optimizing air streams to improve efficiencies and to minimize energy consumption.

The integrated dynamic classifier, the so-called Rotor-Motor-Unit is based on its high strength aluminum disks capable to run at a maximum circumferential speed of 190 m/s. This allows products with a fineness in the low micrometer range and depending on the material even below 1 µm.

The fineness can be easily adjusted by variation of the classifier speed.

The specially developed feed control system together with the optimized grinding nozzles lead to high efficiency of the used energy.

In combination with the newly developed EEU System “Enhanced Energy Utilization” we are able to achieve a reduction in energy use of up to 30% compared to other micronizing systems.

We either use compressed air (3.5 to 15 bar and 240°C) or superheated steam (up to 24 bar and 400°C) as a grinding medium.

With the continuous reject unit unwanted and hard grindable impurities such as Quartz can be removed from the process and enhance the product quality significantly.

Energy Utilization System

 

The thermal energy coming from the compression has to be dissipated by cooling down the air for most applications. Together with the well-respected compressor manufacturer KAESER we have developed a machine, which on one the hand generates hot air and on the other hand maximizes the remaining thermal energy of the compressed air by reduced intermediate cooling.

By using specially designed nozzles this part of the energy can be brought together with the energy coming directly from the pressure, in order to achieve even higher velocities of the airstream. This leads to a significant improvement of the energy utilization.

By means of a controlled water injection, the residual thermal energy can be further used while the total system is cooled down before the internal classifying step with the Rotor-Motor-Unit. This leads to improved classifying conditions.

CLASSIFIER

High Efficiency through Positive Pressure System

 

The first Positive Pressure Classifier for the submicron range leads to high classifying efficiency even in the finest cut-point range. The operation under positive pressure leads to optimized dispersion of the feed material based on high shear forces. Separating the particles is the basis for high effiicient classifying results.

Strong agglomerates based on strong surface forces lead to low content recovery in classifying systems. With this the efficiency of the classifier looking at the fines recovery is rather poor. PMT-Jetmill has developed its patented Classifier JS Series which operates under positive pressure with high shear forces.

Based on this special operation these classifiers have the finest range of products in high content recovery. This can also be achieved on an industrial scale.

The use of the Rotor-Motor-Unit enables final product cut-points in the low micrometer and even submicron range.

The optimization of the content recovery over the whole range of finenesses can be achieved by automatic variation of the coarse reject outlet based on a constant internal material load.

Highest Fineness through Circumferential Speed up to 190 m/s

The ‘Rotor-Motor Unit,’ manufactured with highest precision, is directly integrated into the grinding chamber and is crucial for the reliability and low energy consumption of the PMT Spiral Jetmills and Classifiers.

The results from aerodynamic research work were implemented into a patented rotor wheel geometry and in a mechanical concept to achieve circumferential speeds of up to 190 m/s.

When used in jetmills with internal fine grinding and classifying circuit, products with a fineness even below 1 µm can be produced. This fineness can be achieved even in industrial scale machines and high content recovery classifiers.

The rotor unit is directly combined with a high speed motor unit with the advantage of maintenance-free high-speed bearings.

 

Maintenance

Constant production due to professional service

During a service the modular designed Rotor-Motor-Unit will be disassembled, cleaned and reassembled with new high-precision bearings. Depending on the wear and tear individual rotor discs can be replaced or reused.

In order to realise up to 190 m/s circumferential speed, in association with the appropriate lifetime, our highly qualified team balance the Rotor-Motor-Unit.
